SXSW is rapidly approaching, and hype is at an all-time high.  What would you rather see, Jay-Z at the Amex Sync Show, or at the Jay-Z show? (We realize pitting another artist against him is a long shot and terribly unfair).

With the legendary annual festival beginning today, we have created a list of top events to be present for at SXSW, in case you needed help deciding amongst the incredible events.  The Interactive and Film Festival portions of SXSW overlap, so priorities are a must.

1. The BBQ Crash Course: Since you can’t be in Texas without bumping into someone with BBQ sauce on them, you know Texans take their grilling seriously.  Foodies, there is a surprise appearance from, so get your tickets ahead of time!

2. Crowdfunding 2.0 Meetup:  Sites like Kickstarter or IndieGoGo are the future of modern fundraising, so it makes sense to arm yourself with knowledge of how to make the best use of these platforms.

3. Music and Fashion Engage Meetup: It’s been a long time in the making, but there is finally an official meetup to bridge the conversational gap between music and fashion.

4. SXSW Newbies Meet Up: Not the most thrilling of the listings, but utterly essential for those new to the conference.  There is so much going on, and all of your friend’s pro tips will likely go in one ear and out the other, so do yourself a favor and find all of your fellow greenhorns.

5. Wikileaks: Secrets & Lies screening: Since there was a time when Wikileaks could not be avoided, so take an hour and a half to check out the world of Julian Assange and his online whistle blowers.

6. See Bruce Springsteen keynote SWSW Music. They don’t call him The Boss for nothing! He is a legend in sound, and will surely curate an excellent keynote.

7. Discover a band you’ve never heard of before. Take a chance and try a new sound; they may become your new favorite! There so many bands performing at SXSW, so the time to take a chance has come.

8. Visit the Music Gear Expo. For those who play or admire those who play, this selection of instruments on display will create an incredible exhibition for a wide range of tastes.

9. Go to as many SXSW parties as you can.  Many of them will be free to enjoy, so make the most of your time.  Besides, you never know who will appear beside you at the bar.

10. Jay-Z’s Amex Sync Performance. It’s obvious, but we wouldn’t miss it if we were there. If Vancouver’s past show with Kanye and Jay was any indication, this concert will not be one to miss.

Be sure to tweet us @RoamMobility and visit our Facebook page to show your SXSW photos; we really want to see them! Remember, those photos will also count in our Liberty to Share photo contest, which is currently under way.
