If you’re unsure whether your phone is unlocked or not, please contact your mobile carrier. If you've purchased your phone from a Canadian cell phone carrier, as opposed to purchasing directly from a manufacturer, such as Apple, it is probably locked.

If your phone is locked, you still have options:

Find an unlocking service.  For most phones (except for iPhones) you can use an unlocking service and for approximately $10, get your phone unlocked within 24 hours or less. You can find a  mobile phone store or an online service to get your phone unlocked.  Just send them your device IMEI (a unique barcode) and they will send you back the unlock code.

Go to your current provider. After a period of time, your mobile provider may agree to unlock your phone for a small fee.
