With so many travel apps available on the market for easy download, it's hard to distinguish what apps are really going to be helpful while traveling and which ones will be able to help you on the fly, when you need it most. Here are 5 apps we recommend that might make your next adventure a little bit easier and a whole lot less stressful:
Trip It
Trip It acts as a sort of travel concierge. Instead of having to dig through your email inbox for flight updates, confirmation numbers, etc., Trip It organizes them all inside of the app, so you always have the information you need in one spot. You can even send your updates to other people, allowing them to see what your next step of the trip is.
Foodspotting
Let’s be honest: food can easily be one of the best things about traveling. A little different than your traditional foodie app offering, Foodspotting allows you to get reviews on specific dishes, instead of simple restaurant recommendations. You can even browse photos, to get you even hungrier before hitting up a local bistro. Also, positive ratings are rated in “noms”…that in itself is great.
Google Translate
Google Translate may not be something you would expect in a list of travel apps but, when in Rome, you might want to do as they do. Having a working translator you don’t have to flip through or fumble for can mean the difference between getting a courteous smile or being run out of town. Let’s not go for the second option, shall we? Especially handy are the text-to-speech and voice input options, to keep you ahead of the game.
FlightTrack
No one wants to miss a flight and that’s where FlightTrack shines. The app brings in live information on where a plane currently is, what time it left the gate, and gives you access to an international database of over 1,400 airlines and 4,000 airports. Zoom-able mapping keeps it visual and alternate flight sourcing helps you grab another flight, if something does happen to come up.
WeatherPro
Far from simply making it easier to make small talk with fellow travelers, WeatherPro keeps you up to date with live-feed weather updates, so you aren’t leaving the hotel in swim trunks and walking out into a blizzard. With full radar support (so you can see when storm fronts are on the move) and iCloud support, WeatherPro will have you prepared for any weather-related unknowns.
